The Seattle Seahawks' defeat to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX will be remembered as one of the sport's all-time harrowing losses. For Jeremy Lane, it became a matter of greater concern.

The Seahawks cornerback suffered a gruesome wrist injury in the first quarter after intercepting Tom Brady and returning the ball to the 14-yard line. Lane underwent surgery during the game, and barely remembers the rest of the contest.

"I woke up, we were on the 1-yard line. Enough said," Lane said to Gregg Bell of The News Tribune.

Lane also said he thought he was dreaming after the result of the Seahawks' catastrophic final play on the 1-yard line. It wasn't until the day after the game that Lane realized the Seahawks lost.

For posterity, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson threw an interception on the 1-yard line, where Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler disrupted a slant route and sealed the victory.

Lane returned to practice Wednesday for the first time following the surgery on his wrist and torn ACL. In any event, his experience of last February's Super Bowl is a haunting recount of the injuries suffered at football's pinnacle.
