Arizona Cardinals left guard Mike Iupati will undergo surgery to repair the meniscus in his left knee and could be sidelined for anywhere from three to eight weeks, head coach Bruce Arians announced Thursday.
The short side of Iupati's projected recovery time would see him return to the field at some point around Week 1, while an eight-week absence would have him back closer to the club's Week 5 game.
Iupati, one of the NFL's premier run-blocking guards, joined the Cardinals on a five-year, $40-million deal after spending the first five years of his career with the division-rival San Francisco 49ers.
