Report: Byron Maxwell to sign 5-year deal with Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles will sign cornerback Byron Maxwell to a five-year contract reportedly worth at least $50 million with $25 million guaranteed, according to FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo.
Maxwell spoke to ESPN's Josina Anderson, confirming his plan to join the Eagles.
The fifth-year pro was a member of the Seattle Seahawks' secondary, dubbed the 'Legion of Boom,' and made back-to-back Super Bowl appearances.
Excelling in Seattle's Cover 3, Maxwell proved adept at stripping receivers of the ball, causing a key forced fumble in Super Bowl XLVIII.
The 27-year-old recorded 39 tackles and two interceptions last season.
Maxwell is a significant upgrade over the Eagles' cornerback tandem from 2014, as Bradley Fletcher and Cary Williams were routinely beat on a number of different routes.
Philadelphia has attempted to revamp its defense in the offseason, trading for linebacker Kiko Alonso on March 3, shipping LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills in exchange.
