On pace to break most of his career highs, Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas has every right to be brimming with confidence.
The Broncos star has caught 88 passes for 1,255 yards and 10 touchdowns, making a case to be considered the league's best wide receiver.
Better than Detroit Lions superstar Calvin Johnson? Thomas certainly believes so.
"Of course I’m going to go with myself," Thomas said when asked by NFL Media who's the better player. "I think we do two different things but I’m going to have to say I’m better than Calvin right now."
Johnson and Thomas both played college football at Georgia Tech, with Thomas viewing Johnson as somewhat of a mentor.
"Coming up in my first year at Tech, only person I really looked up to was Calvin because I didn’t really play football in high school," Thomas said.
Thomas redshirted during the 2006 season when Johnson had a tremendous junior campaign, winning ACC Player of the Year honors along with the Fred Biletnikoff Trophy as the best wide receiver in the country.
