Bengals' Still to meet Saints' Payton for first time since jersey campaign

Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Devon Still will finally get to meet the man who helped jump start the campaign to sell his jersey to generate proceeds for pediatric cancer research.

Still will get to meet Sean Payton when the Bengals visit the New Orleans Saints at the Superdome on Sunday.

Payton was the first big name to back Still's fundraising efforts, purchasing 100 of Still's jerseys at $100 each. The campaign went on to raise $1.3 million, which went into a donation fund the Bengals collected. The proceeds were donated to pediatric cancer research last week.

"You really can't thank somebody the way you want to or are supposed to over the phone. It's something you have to do face-to-face," Still said, according to ESPN.

Payton said earlier this week that he was happy to help out after hearing Still's story on the radio.

"Over the years, having coached at Miami of Ohio, having spent time at the Bengals' training camps as a guest and certainly our joint practices that we held in '07, knowing (coach) Marvin (Lewis) for a long time ... you get to know a group a little closer than other teams," Payton said. "Just hearing how they handled it all was pretty inspirational. It was really spontaneous and something I thought would be a good gesture."
