Chris Johnson's agent, Joel Segal, met with Tennessee Titans management on Wednesday.
Later in the day, Segal told SiriusXM NFL Radio that it is only a "matter of time" before the team parts ways with Johnson.
Finding a trading partner to take on Johnson's $8 million salary in 2014 seems unlikely, so an outright release could be more likely.
The New York Jets are expected to make a strong push to acquire Johnson's services should they become available.
