Josh McCown continued to prove he's more than capable of filling in for injured quarterback Jay Cutler as he led the Chicago Bears to a 45-28 victory over the Dallas Cowboys. With the win the Bears moved into a tie atop the NFC North.
Here's what you need to know:
- The Bears improved to 7-6, equaling the Detroit Lions for first in the NFC North. However, because Detroit won both games against Chicago this season, the Lions hold the tiebreaker
- The Cowboys fall to 7-6 on the season and sit a game behind the Eagles for first in the NFC East
- The Bears scored on all eight of their possessions (five touchdowns, three field goals) and become the second team to go an entire game without punting against Dallas this season (Saints Week 10 was the other)
- It's the first time the Bears have scored at least 40 points at home in December since 1986
- McCown was phenomenal for Chicago, going 27-of-36 for 348 yards and four touchdowns. He also added 16 yards and another score on the ground. The rushing TD was McCown's first since 2004
- McCown has recorded seven straight games with a passer rating over 90. Jay Cutler has never had a stretch of 90+ passer rating longer than three games in any season
- Brandon Marshall caught six passes for 100 yards. It's his sixth 100-yard game of the season and fourth in the last six games
- Matt Forte was all over the field, rushing 20 times for 102 yards and catching a game-high seven passes for 73 yards and a touchdown
- Both Forte (rushing) and Marshall (receiving) went over 1,000 yards on the season
- DeMarco Murray was most of the Cowboys offense. The running back had 18 carries for 145 yards on the night. It was his second 100-yard game of the season and sixth of his career
- The Bears have now allowed an individual rusher to gain at least 100 yards in six straight games, tying an NFL record
- Tony Romo was 11-of-20 for 104 yards and three touchdowns. He was replaced in the fourth quarter by Kyle Orton
- The Bears had a huge edge in the passing game, outgaining Dallas 348-144
- The Bears retired the No. 89 of former tight end and head coach Mike Ditka at halftime
