New York Giants quarterback J.J. McCarthy returned to Sunday's Week 9 contest against the Philadelphia Eagles after a stint in the locker room because of a hip injury.
Jameis Winston led the Giants on a touchdown drive while the team evaluated McCarthy. McCarthy suffered the injury when an Eagles defender hit him in the side as he finished a run.

McCarthy took over as the Giants' starter in Week 7 when he led them to a 27-21 win over the Houston Texans. New York acquired him from the Minnesota Vikings in late September for a 2027 fifth-round pick.
