Quarterback Carson Wentz will start for the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football versus the Buffalo Bills after Kyler Murray was ruled out with a hamstring injury, the team announced Thursday.

Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said Murray is considered week-to-week.

The team isn't considering placing Murray on injured reserve, O'Connell said, according to The Athletic's Alec Lewis.

After Minnesota's road loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday, O'Connell revealed that Murray was dealing with hamstring tightness.

Monday will mark Wentz's second start this season. The veteran quarterback stepped in during Week 2 when Murray was sidelined with a concussion that he suffered in the season opener.

The 33-year-old Wentz led the Vikings to a 9-3 win over the Chicago Bears.

Max Brosmer will serve as the Vikings' backup quarterback against the Bills in Minneapolis.

The Vikings, Bills, and San Francisco 49ers are tied for the best record in the NFL with all three teams sitting at 6-1.
