The Seattle Seahawks are acquiring guard Quenton Nelson from the Indianapolis Colts for a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round selection, sources told The Ringer's Tom Pelissero.

Nelson is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after the season, and Seattle will be on the hook for the rest of his contract. The Seahawks were among several teams that inquired about him, reports ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

The 30-year-old has made eight consecutive Pro Bowls and earned three first-team All-Pro nominations since entering the league as the sixth overall pick in 2018.

Nelson has played in 136 games during his nine-year career. Through seven contests in 2026, he's allowed zero sacks and six pressures, according to PFF.

The trade allows Grey Zabel, the Seahawks' 2025 first-round pick, to move to the right side of the offensive line, where he played at North Dakota State. Seattle's offensive line has allowed the third-most pressures in the league (95) heading into Week 8, according to TruMedia.

Indianapolis fired general manager Chris Ballard just over a week ago. Ed Dodds, who'd served as Ballard's assistant general manager since 2018, is the Colts' interim GM and reports directly to owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon.

The Nelson trade could spark more moves by the Colts before the Nov. 10 trade deadline. Running back Jonathan Taylor will reportedly have many suitors, including the Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, and Green Bay Packers. The Colts are also actively shopping defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, sources told NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Indianapolis fell to 2-5 with Sunday's loss to the Vikings.
