Washington Commanders quarterback Marcus Mariota suffered a knee injury during Sunday's 30-13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in London.

The veteran aggravated an MCL injury and is expected to miss time, according to ESPN's Molly McGrath. He'll undergo additional tests to determine the severity of his injury.

Mariota suffered the ailment after taking a hit in the pocket during the first quarter. He spent time in the medical tent before heading to the locker room.

Rookie signal-caller Athan Kaliakmanis replaced Mariota. Washington selected Kaliakmanis in the seventh round of the 2026 draft out of Rutgers. He served as the Scarlet Knights' primary starter for two seasons before entering the NFL, throwing for 5,820 yards with 38 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

Mariota started for Jayden Daniels, who's sidelined due to a dislocated elbow sustained in Week 2. Mariota also started last week's 33-31 victory over the Seattle Seahawks.

Daniels was ruled out Friday after practicing as a limited participant throughout the week. He could return next week against the New York Giants, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
