Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. will make his Dallas Cowboys debut Sunday against the Houston Texans, sources told NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
The Cowboys acquired Porter from the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier this week. He sat out Pittsburgh's first three games while nursing a back injury and angling for an extension from the Steelers.
Dallas traded two draft picks, including a 2028 second-rounder, to get Porter out of Pittsburgh. The investment suggests the Cowboys view him as a long-term piece in their defense, even though they completed the trade without an extension in place.
Porter broke up 31 passes and notched three interceptions over three seasons with the Steelers. He's in the final year of his rookie contract.
The Cowboys are 1-2 heading into Week 4 against the Texans.
