Veteran quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is stepping away from the Detroit Lions and is expected to retire, head coach Dan Campbell said Sunday.
Bridgewater, 33, was placed on the reserve/retired list ahead of practice.

"He's going to be missed," Campbell said.
Bridgewater initially retired after the 2023 season. He returned to the NFL with the Lions in December 2024 and featured for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2025. Bridgewater signed a one-year deal to return to Detroit in March.
The former Pro Bowler played 11 seasons in the NFL, spending time with the Lions, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos, Miami Dolphins, and Buccaneers.
The Lions acted quickly to add to their depth chart, signing Josh Dobbs to a one-year, $1.425-million contract, sources told NFL Network's Mike Garofolo and Ian Rapaport.
The 31-year-old gets $475,000 guaranteed in the deal. Dobbs is 3-12 in 15 starts over six seasons. He has a 62.8% completion rate and has thrown for 3,346 yards in 27 appearances.
Undrafted rookie Luke Altmyer is expected to factor heavily in Thursday's preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
