PITTSFORD, N.Y. (AP) — Buffalo Bills safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson was helped off the field and escorted to the medical tent after hurting his right leg on Saturday.
Gardner-Johnson is an offseason free-agent addition and brought in to compete for a starting job.
Gardner-Johnson was hurt about an hour into practice while defending against a pass play during a team drill.
It appeared to be a non-contact injury, as he went down to both knees after the play was completed.
He lay on the field for several minutes and had difficulty putting any weight on his right leg. Gardner-Johnson then placed his arms around two Bills staffers while limping off the field.
The Bills had no immediate update on the injury.
