Lions running back David Montgomery refuted a report that stated he "wants out" of Detroit.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano reported Sunday that 28-year-old is looking for a fresh start, but Montgomery later implied on social media that he doesn't want a change of scenery.

Montgomery, who's spent the last three seasons with the Lions, is under contract through the 2027 campaign after signing a two-year extension worth up to $18.75 million in October 2024. Detroit would seek a Day 3 draft pick in a potential trade for the running back, according to Fowler and Graziano.

The Iowa State product has rushed for 2,506 yards during his Detroit tenure but logged a career-low 158 carries last season. Jahmyr Gibbs, whom the Lions selected in the first round of the 2023 draft, became the team's primary ball carrier in 2025 while ranking fifth in the league in scrimmage yards and fourth in rushing touchdowns.

Montgomery has recorded 6,115 career rushing yards and 63 total scores across seven seasons with the Lions and Chicago Bears.
