Texans' Collins ruled out vs. 49ers with concussion
Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins won't play in Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers due to a concussion.
The wideout left Monday's loss to the Seattle Seahawks and didn't return. He's still in protocol and hasn't practiced this week.
"Nico is one of our best players. It's concerning," head coach DeMeco Ryans said of Collins' status Tuesday, according to KPRC 2's Aaron Wilson. "Some things you can't control and try to do the best you possibly can."
Collins has 26 catches, 339 receiving yards, and three touchdowns in six games this season. He leads all Texans pass-catchers in receiving yards and touchdowns. Losing Collins is a blow to a Texans offense that's already struggled this year and ranks 26th in success rate, according to Ben Baldwin's database.
Christian Kirk, who is dealing with a hamstring injury, has been ruled out for the second straight game after previously missing the first two contests of the season. Xavier Hutchinson, Jayden Higgins, and Jaylin Noel are set to be C.J. Stroud's top wide receivers versus San Francisco.
