Carolina Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard won't play Sunday against the Miami Dolphins due to a calf injury, the team announced Friday.

Hubbard is considered week-to-week, and the Panthers aren't expected to place the rusher on injured reserve, according to The Athletic's Joseph Person.

The 26-year-old didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday. He was a limited participant in two sessions last week before playing a season-low 50.7% of Carolina's offensive snaps in its loss to the New England Patriots.

Head coach Dave Canales told reporters that Hubbard's injury is worse now than it was before last week's game.

Hubbard leads the Panthers in carries (53) and rushing yards (217) through four games. Rico Dowdle, whom the Panthers signed to a one-year deal in the offseason after he spent his first five years with the Dallas Cowboys, is expected to make his first start of the campaign with Hubbard sidelined.

Carolina is 1-3 heading into Sunday's clash at Bank of America Stadium.
