The Chicago Bears signed quarterback Tyson Bagent to a two-year, $10-million extension that can reach $16 million with incentives, his agents told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Bagent couldn't hide his emotions as he discussed the extension's importance to him and his family.

Bagent, who's been with the Bears since signing as an undrafted free agent in 2023, is projected to be Caleb Williams' backup this upcoming season.

The 25-year-old started four games in his rookie year after Justin Fields suffered an injury. Bagent secured a 30-12 victory in his first career start but lost the next three contests.

He had an impressive performance Sunday in Chicago's last preseason game against the Buffalo Bills, throwing for 196 yards on 13 completions. Bagent's standout highlight came on a touchdown pass to Tyler Scott in the back of the end zone while on the move.

Bagent has 870 passing yards with three touchdowns and six interceptions entering his third NFL season.
