OBJ: 'I never, ever wanted to leave' Giants
Odell Beckham Jr. revealed Saturday that he was disappointed he couldn't be a New York Giant for his entire career.
"I never, ever wanted to leave the New York Giants," the wide receiver said on "Beckham and Friends Live," an alternative broadcast of the UEFA Champions League final named for host David Beckham.
He added: "This was an organization I got drafted to, they believed in me. So if the Giants won a Super Bowl, I'd be happy, but deep down inside, I wanted to be the one to (win one for them)."
Beckham played his first five seasons with the Giants after being drafted 12th overall in 2014. The wide receiver had a successful start with the team, being named offensive rookie of the year and a second-team All-Pro twice. The receiver was traded to the Cleveland Browns in 2019, seven months after signing a five-year, $90-million extension with New York.
Beckham never reached the same heights with the Browns as he did with the Giants, tallying seven touchdowns in three seasons. He was waived by the Browns in November 2021 before signing with the Los Angeles Rams, winning Super Bowl LVI with the team.
The 32-year-old also had one-year stints with the Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins parted ways with Beckham in December after the receiver tallied nine catches for 55 yards and no touchdowns in nine games.
Beckham, a free agent, has posted 7,987 receiving yards and 59 touchdowns in 10 NFL seasons.
