Book Eagles' Brown read on sideline rises to No. 1 on best-sellers list
A.J. Brown's sideline reading habits are influencing book sales.
The Eagles wide receiver went viral for reading a book between drives during Philadelphia's 22-10 wild-card win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
The book - "Inner Excellence" by Jim Murphy - soared to No. 1 on the Amazon best-sellers list Monday morning.
Brown said postgame it wasn't the first time he'd read the book during a game, and that he draws inspiration from it.
"It gives me a sense of peace," Brown said. "That's the book that I bring in every single game. My teammates call it the recipe. That's the first time I heard y'all got me on camera, but it's not the first game. It's got a lot of points in there, it's a lot of mental game, a lot of mental parts about it. Works for me."
Brown's copy of "Inner Excellence" includes highlighted passages about not succumbing to anxiety and pressure when facing challenges, per Underdog's James Palmer.
The book was originally published in 2009, and a revised version was released in 2020. It promises to "teach you how to train your mind like the very best." Murphy is a mental performance coach who spent time in the Chicago Cubs organization as a player.
Brown finished the win over the Packers with one reception for 10 yards. He was nursing a knee injury throughout the week leading up to the matchup but said he felt "really good" during the game.
The Eagles will host the winner of Monday's Minnesota Vikings-Los Angeles Rams game in the divisional round Sunday.
