Report: Texans' Mixon expected to play vs. Patriots
Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon is expected to play Sunday against the New England Patriots, sources told Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston.
The 28-year-old missed the Texans' last three games due to an ankle injury. He suffered the ailment in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears.
Mixon was at practice the last two days and is officially listed as questionable.
"I felt good," the running back said after Thursday's session. "I’m going to do what I’ve got to do to show I’m the best on the field. It’s as simple as that."
Cam Akers and Dare Ogunbowale have been the team's primary running backs in Mixon's absence. Houston rushed for 233 yards combined in its last three contests.
Mixon got off to a hot start this season, racking up 178 total yards and three touchdowns on 33 touches in the club's season-opening win over the Indianapolis Colts.
