San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Javon Hargrave will miss the remainder of the season due to a partially torn triceps, head coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday.

Hargrave suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of his team's Week 3 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Shanahan said postgame he believed the injury was just a contusion, according to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle.

The 31-year-old was having his best performance of the season, accruing one sack, one quarterback hit, and two tackles. He signed a four-year, $81-million contract with San Francisco in 2023.

Hargrave joins a long list of banged-up players for the 49ers, including Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, and George Kittle. Shanahan said Monday that quarterback Brock Purdy is also day-to-day with back soreness.
