The New Orleans Saints and linebacker Pete Werner agreed to terms on a three-year extension, the club announced Thursday.
The deal is worth over $25 million and includes $17.5 million guaranteed, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Werner started 16 games for the Saints in 2023, recording 93 total tackles (four for loss), half a sack, an interception, and two fumble recoveries while playing 88% of the defensive snaps. All of those marks represent personal bests for the 6-foot-3, 242-pounder.
The 25-year-old has been with New Orleans since being drafted in the second round in 2021 out of Ohio State.
Werner has tallied 235 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss, a pair of forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one interception over 43 career games.
