Report: Henry unlikely to re-sign with Titans

It's unlikely that running back Derrick Henry will sign a new deal with the Tennessee Titans, but that door isn't completely closed, sources told Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

The 30-year-old thanked Tennessee fans for a great eight seasons at the end of the 2023 campaign, seeming to indicate that he could depart in free agency.

However, new head coach Brian Callahan kept the door open for a potential re-signing in January. "Look, if he is open to a return that fits for us, I'm never going to say no to good players," Callahan said.

Henry had 1,167 rushing yards, 12 touchdowns, and 214 receiving yards in 2023. It was just his second campaign with fewer than 1,500 rushing yards since 2019, including an injury-shortened 2021 in which he racked up 937 yards in eight games.

Henry has led the league in rushing yardage twice, including a 2,027-yard campaign in 2020. He's also led all players in carries four times, including last season.

The Alabama product has 9,502 rushing yards, 1,458 receiving yards, and 93 total touchdowns since being selected No. 45 overall in the 2016 draft. Henry's rushing yardage ranks second on the team's all-time leaderboard behind Eddie George's 10,009 yards, while his 90 rushing touchdowns are tops in the franchise's history.
