After a standout rookie campaign, Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson is looking to join one of the NFL's most exclusive clubs in 2024.

"I want 2,000 yards rushing," Robinson told Daniel Flick of Sports Illustrated. "I know those are big expectations. (With) what we can do as an offense, with all the weapons, our O-line, with (new offensive coordinator) Zac (Robinson) being at the helm, it can be something special.

"I think it's going to be one of those special seasons that Atlanta's been waiting for and all of us as players have been waiting for. So, let's get it."

Robinson set a new Falcons rookie record for scrimmage yards with 976 rushing and 478 receiving in 2023. He also had eight total touchdowns and was second on the team in catches with 58.

However, ex-Falcons coach Arthur Smith was often criticized for underutilizing his new playmaker. The former No. 8 pick had just five games with over 15 rushing attempts. Backup Tyler Allgeier received almost as many carries (186 to Robinson's 214) despite averaging nearly a full yard less per rush (3.7 to 4.6).

"Yeah, I had 1,400 yards, but for me, I have such high expectations, that's not a great season," Robinson said. "From the expectations people have from me, I could see them looking at that season like, 'that may be great somewhere else, but that shouldn't be the standard for me.'"

Only eight running backs have eclipsed 2,000 rushing yards in NFL history, and none achieved the feat more than once. Derrick Henry was the last player to hit 2,000 yards in 2020.

The Falcons replaced Smith with Raheem Morris and brought in Zac Robinson from the Los Angeles Rams to run their offense.
