Fields downplays decision to unfollow Bears on social media

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields is downplaying his decision to unfollow the Chicago Bears on Instagram.

"I still mess with the Bears, this and that, I'm just tryna to take a little break," Fields said Wednesday on the "St. Brown Bros Podcast," which features Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and Bears wideout Equanimeous St. Brown, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

"I unfollowed the Bears and the NFL," Fields said. "I'm not just trying to have football on my timeline."

Fields' decision to unfollow Chicago comes during an offseason in which he's widely expected to be traded. The Bears own the No. 1 and No. 9 picks in the NFL draft and are expected to select a new signal-caller.

Fields is aware of the rumors and included them in the list of reasons why he needed to take a break.

"It's either 'Keep Fields, we want Fields,' it's either 'Draft (USC quarterback Caleb Williams).' Man, I'm tired of hearing the talk. I just want it to be over," Fields said.

However, despite the uncertainty, Fields wants to remain with the Bears.

"I can't see myself playing in another place," Fields said, according to The 33rd Team.

The Ohio State product, who turns 25 on March 5, owns a 10-28 record since he was selected No. 11 overall in the 2021 draft. He boasts 6,674 yards, 40 touchdowns, and 30 interceptions on 60.3% passing in 40 career games. He's also run for 2,220 yards and 14 more scores.
