Benson is "in retirement mode", according to a report from ESPN's Chris Mortensen on NFL Insiders last Friday.
Benson is coming off a Lisfranc fracture in his foot that has prevented him from being signed by any team ahead of the upcoming season. The fourth overall pick of the 2005 draft is now 30 years old, so there are doubts about his ability to make a comeback. In eight NFL season's, Benson has totaled 6,017 rushing yards and 32 touchdowns on the ground.
