Report: Titans' Levis set to start on TNF vs. Steelers with Tannehill still ailing
The Tennessee Titans are expected to start rookie quarterback Will Levis for Thursday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with Ryan Tannehill still recovering from a high ankle sprain, a source told Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
Levis starred in his NFL debut in Week 8, throwing four touchdown passes while leading the Titans to a 28-23 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.
The 33rd overall pick connected three times with receiver DeAndre Hopkins for scores - including a 61-yarder and a 47-yarder - and finished with 238 passing yards.
While Levis was expected to split time with second-year pro Malik Willis, he ultimately got almost all of the workload, with Willis running the ball twice for four yards.
Tannehill - who suffered a similar ankle injury last season that forced him to miss the campaign's final three contests - passed on having surgery and is expected to return this year.
Levis was rumored to be in contention to be a top-10 pick in April, but the 24-year-old ended up falling to the Titans at the top of the second round.
