Giants' Jones out vs. Bills due to neck injury

New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Friday that quarterback Daniel Jones won't play Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

Jones left the team's loss to the Miami Dolphins last week with a neck injury. The ailment prevented the 26-year-old from practicing Wednesday and Thursday.

Tyrod Taylor, who replaced Jones in the defeat to the Dolphins, is expected to start. Taylor played for the Bills from 2015-17, making his only Pro Bowl in his first season with the club.

Jones joins left tackle Andrew Thomas, center John Michael Schmitz, tackle Matt Peart, and pass-rusher Azeez Ojulari among those ruled out for the prime-time matchup.

Running back Saquon Barkley, who's missed three consecutive games with an ankle sprain, is listed as questionable. The tailback was a limited participant all week.

Jones dealt with a neck injury in 2021 that forced him to miss six games. He said after last week's loss that the soreness he felt was similar to that injury.

Jones and the Giants have struggled this season. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound quarterback has thrown for 884 passing yards with two touchdowns against six interceptions. He's also run for 197 yards and a touchdown but has fumbled four times.
