Cowboys believe they have 'best defense in the world' after dominating Jets

The Dallas Cowboys defense isn't short on confidence.

"You just witnessed the best defense in the world, we don't care about nobody else. They've got to come match our energy," defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence said to NFL Network's Omar Ruiz following the team's 30-10 victory over the New York Jets on Sunday.

The Dallas defense finished the rout with one fumble recovery, three sacks, five tackles for loss, five QB hits, seven pass breakups, and a trio of interceptions. Lawrence had one tackle for loss and one deflection to pair with his two solo tackles.

"This is expected for where we want to go," star pass-rusher Micah Parsons said according to team reporter Nick Harris. "(This game) just means that you're improving. Finishing games, closing them out, smothering people, not giving them that hope and dream that they can come back in this game when they're on the same playing field as us."

Parsons finished the contest with four tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks, four QB hits, and one deflection. The 24-year-old also forced and recovered a Dalvin Cook fumble.

"I'm very happy with where we're at right now," Parsons added.

Jets quarterback Zach Wilson, who was thrust into the starting role after Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles in Week 1, never found his rhythm. The third-year passer finished with 170 yards, one touchdown, and three picks on 12-of-27 passing.

Through two games, the Cowboys have outscored opponents by a combined 70-10 on the back of their productive defense. The unit has forced two fumble recoveries, 10 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, 17 QB hits, 15 pass breakups, and five interceptions.
