After a fraught first go-round with Matt Patricia, Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay is willing to put their issues behind him.
"It's another day at the office," Slay said, according to Jenna Malinowski of the Detroit Free Press. "We both got the same goal, just going out there to compete and win a championship. So, that's the main focus."
Slay added that the reunion with Patricia, now a senior defensive assistant, has been "cordial."
During their two seasons in Detroit, Slay and Patricia had a fractured relationship that never healed after an incident in 2018.
Slay posted a picture of a wide receiver on social media, only for the then-Lions head coach to tell him to "stop sucking this man's private," according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.
"Where I'm from, that don't fly," Slay said in 2020. "Cause I wouldn't say that to him. ... That's disrespectful to me, and so from there on, it was done with."
Slay was traded to the Eagles in 2020. He celebrated Patricia's firing from the Lions later that year on social media.

Patricia spent last season as New England's offensive line coach and offensive play-caller. He was a member of the Patriots' defensive staff from 2006-2017, including a six-year run as their defensive coordinator.
Slay returned to the Eagles on a reworked three-year, $42-million contract this offseason. He earned his fifth Pro Bowl selection last campaign, recording 55 tackles and three interceptions.
