Minnesota Vikings defensive end Danielle Hunter plans to skip mandatory minicamp as he and the club have been unable to agree on a new contract, sources told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
The Vikings have reportedly fielded trade calls for the veteran pass-rusher. Hunter is due just $5.5 million in 2023 after Minnesota moved around money on his contract last season, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Hunter is scheduled to carry a $13.1-million cap hit next season, according to Over The Cap.
The 28-year-old bounced back in 2022 after undergoing season-ending neck surgery midway through the 2021 campaign. He compiled 65 tackles and a team-leading 10.5 sacks in 17 games.
Minnesota ranked 20th in sacks last season with 38. Veteran pass-rusher Za'Darius Smith, who contributed 10 sacks in 2022, was traded to the Cleveland Browns in May.
Hunter has been with the Vikings since being drafted in the third round in 2015. He has accrued 379 tackles and 71 sacks across 102 career games.
