Report: Eagles re-sign Cox to 1-year, $10M deal
The Philadelphia Eagles are re-signing defensive tackle Fletcher Cox to a one-year, $10-million deal, sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Cox turned down more lucrative offers to return to the Eagles on a hometown discount, according to Schefter. The New York Jets were one of the teams trying to land Cox, sources told Dianna Russini of ESPN.
The 32-year-old started all 17 games for the Eagles last season, totaling seven sacks - his most since 2018 - and 43 tackles.
Cox was a first-round pick of the Eagles in the 2012 draft. He has made six Pro Bowls and was a first-team All-Pro in 2018.
With Javon Hargrave signing with the San Francisco 49ers, the Eagles were left with Milton Williams, Jordan Davis, and Marvin Wilson as the only defensive tackles on the active roster before re-signing Cox.
The 2017 Super Bowl champion has 65 sacks in 173 career games.
