Giants' Love: Sirianni on a 'free ride' with Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles are one win away from Super Bowl glory, but New York Giants safety Julian Love doesn't believe that success has anything to do with head coach Nick Sirianni.

After initially commending Sirianni for "not getting in the way of his team," Love was critical when asked about the Eagles coach celebrating straight into the camera during the 38-7 divisional-round win over the Giants.

"I don't like it. I don't like it at all," Love said during a Thursday appearance on "Good Morning Football," according to NFL.com's Nick Shook. "He's in for a free ride right now. You guys can coach this team."

Eagles pass-rusher Brandon Graham took issue with Love's comment.

"People always got something to say when they watching from home," said Graham, according to NFL Network's James Palmer.

Love later doubled down on his evaluation of Sirianni on Twitter following a backlash from Eagles fans.

The Eagles beat the Giants three times this season en route to earning an NFC-best 14-3 regular-season record and their first Super Bowl appearance under Sirianni.

Philadelphia was widely acknowledged to have one of the NFL's most well-rounded rosters entering the season, and both its top assistants - offensive coordinator Shane Steichen and defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon - have been head coaching candidates this hiring cycle.

But Sirianni has helped the Eagles fulfill their potential across two years in charge. The NFC East club finished 26th in scoring offense and 20th in scoring defense in Doug Pederson's final season in 2020. Philadelphia boasted the third-ranked offense and the eighth-ranked defense in 2022.

Moreover, after a solid first season as a full-time starter last year, quarterback Jalen Hurts blossomed into an MVP finalist under the offensive-minded Sirianni.

If the Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs on Feb. 12 in Arizona, Sirianni would become the fifth-youngest head coach to win a Super Bowl.
