Deion Sanders not eyeing NFL job: 'No desire to coach rich men'
It doesn't sound like an NFL coaching job is in Deion Sanders' future.
In an interview with Donovan X. Ramsey of GQ, the Pro Football Hall of Famer and new Colorado head coach revealed he has no interest in taking his talents to the NFL.
"I just have no desire to coach rich men," Sanders said. "I'd rather have an impact on a younger man that needs direction."
While Sanders doesn't wish to become an NFL coach, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, whose team Sanders played for from 1995-99, believes he would fare well at the professional level.
"Deion is very capable of being a head coach in the National Football League," Jones said in December, according to Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "You couldn't be talking to anybody that knows him any better than I do."
Sanders was hired by Colorado last month after three seasons at Jackson State, where he compiled a 27-6 record and back-to-back SWAC titles. He spent nearly a decade coaching at the high school level before joining Jackson State.
