Hamlin makes 1st statement since cardiac arrest, 'thankful' for prayers
Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin thanked the public Saturday for its support in his first public statement since suffering a cardiac arrest Monday.
"When you put real love out into the world, it comes back to you (three times) as much," Hamlin wrote on Instagram. "The love has been overwhelming, but I'm thankful for every single person that prayed for me and reached out. We brought the world back together behind this. If you know me, you know this only gone make me stronger. On a long road, keep praying for me! #3strong."
Hamlin received CPR during Buffalo's game against the Bengals on Monday before being taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
The 24-year-old Hamlin is still in critical condition but is now breathing on his own. Doctors said Saturday that his neurological function is "excellent."
Hamlin also spoke to Bills players and staff by video call during Friday's team meeting.
