The Las Vegas Raiders have fired general manager Mike Mayock following his third season, the team announced Monday.

Reports surfaced shortly before news of Mayock's dismissal that Las Vegas had started requesting interviews for potential general managers, signaling the end of his time at the helm.

Mayock joined the Raiders one year into former head coach Jon Gruden's tenure, replacing Reggie McKenzie.

Though the 2021 campaign saw the Raiders make the playoffs for the first time since 2016, Mayock appeared to be on borrowed time following Gruden's midseason resignation.

Mayock, a former NFL Network analyst, had several high-profile draft misses, most notably selecting pass-rusher Clelin Ferrell fourth overall in 2019 and cornerback Damon Arnette in the first round in 2020.

The Raiders have reportedly requested to interview New England Patriots director of player personnel Dave Ziegler and are expected to request a meeting with Indianapolis Colts executive Ed Dodds.

Las Vegas is also searching for a new head coach, with Patriots linebackers coach Jerod Mayo reportedly the first external candidate to get an interview.

Raiders interim head coach Rich Bisaccia is expected to be in the running to earn the job permanently.
