The New York Jets are open to trading safety Marcus Maye prior to Tuesday's trade deadline but seek at least a third-round pick in exchange, sources told SNY's Ralph Vacchiano.
While several teams are reportedly interested in Maye, the safety's remaining franchise-tag salary of $6.5 million could impact New York's ability to get the compensation it covets.
The Jets haven't engaged any teams in serious negotiations so far, added Vacchiano.
New York and Maye reportedly haven't held any talks about a long-term contract, meaning the 28-year-old would be set to leave as a free agent after the season.
Police arrested Maye in February for driving under the influence, and he's facing charges related to a car crash. He didn't inform the Jets of his arrest until October, and the NFL could discipline him under its personal conduct policy.
The safety has recorded 23 tackles, a sack, and no interceptions this season.
