Tua ignoring rumors: 'I don't even know when the trade deadline is'

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa isn't paying attention to the grapevine ahead of what could be a career-altering trade deadline.

"Honestly, I'm not even worried about that," he told reporters Wednesday. "I don't even know when the trade deadline is."

The Dolphins are rumored to be pursuing a trade for Deshaun Watson. The Houston Texans star faces 22 lawsuits and 10 criminal complaints from women who are accusing him of sexual assault or misconduct, but NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Tuesday the league doesn't have enough information to remove Watson's eligibility.

Miami drafted Tagovailoa fifth overall in 2020 but is still waiting for the former Alabama star to deliver on his potential. The 23-year-old could be shipped to another team if the Dolphins pull the trigger on a Watson deal.

Dolphins head coach Brian Flores has repeatedly backed Tagovailoa publicly, though he hasn't said the franchise isn't interested in Watson.

"Honestly, I don't base my emotions off of who says anything about me or who is saying what," Tagovailoa said. "All I can do is my job and do it to the best of my capabilities. Everything else, I mean it's out of my control. But I have the utmost confidence and trust that I am the quarterback of this team, just off of conversations that I've had with Flo and whatnot. That obviously stays between us. But yeah, I feel very confident that I'm the person."

The Dolphins have lost three of the four games Tagovailoa has started this season and are 1-6 overall. He's thrown for 835 yards with seven touchdowns and four interceptions over his four appearances.

The NFL trade deadline is Nov. 2.
