Rams' Whitworth expects 2021 to be his final season
"This year, to me, it feels like this is it," Whitworth said during an appearance on Chris Long's podcast "Green Light."
"I've put everything into trying to play this season and playing at the level I want to," he continued. "I feel like this will probably be the end, but also, all my closest friends will tell you that I've said that for about seven straight years, so I don't know how believable it is, but it feels like it is."
Whitworth, who will turn 40 in December, has spent the last four seasons with the Rams after an 11-year run with the Cincinnati Bengals. Despite his advanced age, he was once again among the NFL's top blindside protectors in 2020.
The four-time Pro Bowler missed seven games with a knee injury last season before returning for the playoffs. He sat out only one game over his first three seasons with the Rams.
