The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected pass-rusher Joe Tryon out of Washington 32nd overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The reigning Super Bowl champions didn't have any glaring roster holes after retaining every key contributor from last season, including wide receiver Chris Godwin, linebacker Lavonte David, and pass-rusher Shaq Barrett.
Tryon will likely assume a situational role behind Barrett and Jason Pierre-Paul.
Tampa Bay's defense was among the best at getting to the quarterback last season, racking up the fourth-most sacks in the league (48). But the Buccaneers needed to add a long-term answer at linebacker with Pierre-Paul and William Gholston entering the last season of their contracts.
Draft profile

Key stats (2019): 8 sacks, 12.5 TFLs, 41 tackles
Tryon is a powerful player who can be a major challenge for any opponent that doesn't pack a punch of their own. With explosiveness off the ball and the ability to convert his speed into an effective bull rush, he regularly collapses the pocket from the outside. That power shows up in the running game, too, where he sets a strong edge and is able to shed blockers to make a play on the ball. If Tryon can add to his rush repertoire and improve on the ability to win a rep when his first effort is nullified, he could end up with some impressive sack production to go with his three-down profile.
