Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey and Los Angeles Chargers center Mike Pouncey are retiring from the NFL.

The twin brothers made their announcement through Maurkice's former teammate and ex-Steelers guard Ramon Foster.

Both brothers spent over a decade in the league and combined for 13 Pro Bowls. Maurkice was Pittsburgh's first-round pick (No. 18 overall) in 2010, while Mike was selected 15th overall by the Miami Dolphins in 2011.

The duo attended Florida, winning a national championship in 2009 while being selected as All-Americans.

Maurkice was set to enter the final year of his contract with the Steelers. He started 13 games in 2020 and only missed more than three contests once in his career.

Mike was scheduled to hit free agency after battling injuries this past season in Los Angeles. The Chargers placed him on injured reserve after he underwent hip surgery in September.

In addition to his nine Pro Bowls, Maurkice was also a three-time All-Pro selection and was named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team.
