Report: Panthers involved in Stafford sweepstakes
The Carolina Panthers are involved in trade talks for Matthew Stafford, a source told Joe Person of The Athletic.
The Detroit Lions have been fielding offers for the former Pro Bowl quarterback, and head coach Dan Campbell indicated Saturday a deal could come to fruition soon.
"It's pretty hot and heavy right now," Campbell told Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. "We've got quite a few offers and so it looks like we've got some trade partners, we're just trying to work out the best scenario and see what's best for us, ultimately."
The Panthers went into the offseason examining their quarterback options after souring on Teddy Bridgewater late in the year. Carolina is also rumored to be an under-the-radar contender for Houston Texans star Deshaun Watson.
The Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, Indianapolis Colts, and Washington Football Team are among the other clubs linked to Stafford since he requested a trade from the Lions.
Stafford, who will turn 33 on Super Bowl Sunday, threw for 4,084 yards with 26 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 2020.
