Aaron Rodgers: 'My future is a beautiful mystery'

Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers are again one win away from reaching the Super Bowl.

But circumstances are different this time. Rodgers is 37 years old and playing in his 16th season, and the Packers drafted his potential replacement last spring. He may not get many more opportunities to play in the title game, especially with Green Bay.

"I've always just tried to stay present, especially this year, as much as anything, and just enjoy the moments," Rodgers said Wednesday. "I hope there's more opportunities, but I don't know. I really don't, and that stuff is out of my control. My future is a beautiful mystery, I think."

Rodgers is under contract through the 2023 season, but a potential out exists in his deal after the 2021 campaign.

The Packers have lost during their last three trips to the NFC Championship Game, and there's no guarantee Rodgers will get another chance in green and gold.

So for now, the likely 2020 MVP is looking forward to the opportunity ahead of him.

"The present is such a gift, to just be able to stay in the moment and to have gratitude to be in this situation again and being with the guys and having fans in our stadium and maybe snow in an NFC Championship Game. I'm going to enjoy these moments for sure and just not worry about what happens down the line," he said.

"I'm thankful for the opportunity again to be leading these guys, to play the way I want to play, to be called upon for a greater leadership role. Those things are really, really important to me," he added.

The Packers will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday with a trip to Super Bowl LV on the line.
