The Cleveland Browns announced Friday that defensive end Myles Garrett will be placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Cleveland also released a statement saying that an unnamed player tested positive for the coronavirus.

The team hasn't confirmed whether the player is Garrett, but Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot reports that he did indeed contract COVID-19 and won't play Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The star pass-rusher was away from the facility all week with what the Browns called an illness, so no close contacts have been identified, the club said.

Garrett is currently among the front-runners for Defensive Player of the Year. He's posted a league-leading 9.5 sacks and four forced fumbles this season, consistently dominating opposing linemen.

Starting right tackle Jack Conklin and kicker Cody Parkey are also on the reserve/COVID-19 list but will be eligible to rejoin the club Saturday if they test negative.
