The New York Giants announced Saturday that wide receiver Golden Tate will not travel with the team for Sunday's game against the Washington Football Team.

Tate will miss the contest due to New York's issues with his effort and performance, according to NFL Network's Kim Jones.

Giants head coach Joe Judge said Friday that "a lot of possibilities" for discipline were on the table following the veteran wideout's comments during Monday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Tate was demonstrably unhappy with the number of targets headed his way against the Buccaneers, shouting, "Throw me the ball" after catching a late touchdown. His wife also shared similar frustration in an Instagram story.

The Giants attempted to trade the 32-year-old prior to Tuesday's deadline, SNY's Ralph Vacchiano reports. They'll likely release him in the offseason.

New York will incur a $4.7-million dead cap hit if the team releases Tate following the season.
