After missing the last two games with a knee injury, San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle is expected to return Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

Kittle returned to practice this week and told reporters Thursday he plans to play on Sunday Night Football, according to team reporter Keiana Martin.

The star tight end has been battling an MCL sprain and a bone bruise in the early portion of the campaign. He's coming off his first All-Pro season after ranking third in receiving yards at his position a year ago.

San Francisco's offense has battled the injury bug thus far in 2020. Jimmy Garoppolo and Raheem Mostert have yet to practice this week and will likely miss their Week 4 tilt, while second-string tight end Jordan Reed could miss six-to-eight weeks with a knee injury.

Kittle caught four passes for 44 yards in the season opener.
