Titans GM keeping tabs on Clowney: 'We would be a pretty good fit for him'

Despite no recent talks, the Tennessee Titans remain interested in free-agent edge defender Jadeveon Clowney.

"I know he wants to play," general manager Jon Robinson said Thursday, according to team writer Jim Wyatt. "I think we would be a pretty good fit for him. There was some mutual interest there when we started the discussions, but I would say that really hasn't grown legs since we spoke last."

Clowney entered free agency in March as one of the most accomplished veterans on the market. However, offers weren't as lucrative as he expected.

The three-time Pro Bowler has spent the offseason working out in Houston and rehabbing from a February surgery to repair a sports hernia.

Clowney is coming off a three-sack season with the Seattle Seahawks, though he still generated quarterback pressures and served formidably in run defense. He spent the first five seasons of his career with the Houston Texans.

"No conversations of recent," Robinson said of the talks with Clowney. "I think we're going to continue to monitor it and see."

The 27-year-old reportedly received his largest offer from the Cleveland Browns. He's also been connected to the Titans and New York Jets in recent months.
