New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has offered a second apology for comments he made Wednesday about players potentially kneeling throughout the U.S. anthem during the upcoming season.

"I know there's not much I can say that could make things any better right now, but I just want you to see in my eyes how sorry I am," Brees said in a video posted on Instagram.

The 41-year-old said Wednesday that he would "never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America or our country" in a protest. His statement was met with widespread anger and disgust among the passer's NFL peers.

Brees posted an Instagram apology on Thursday morning before following it up with the video later in the evening.

"I'm sorry, and I will do better, and I will be part of the solution, and I am your ally," he said.
