Report: Redskins' Williams wants new contract or trade

Washington Redskins left tackle Trent Williams wants a new contract or a trade, sources told Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Williams is entering his age-32 season and the final year of his contract, which pays him a non-guaranteed base salary of $12.5 million.

First-year head coach Ron Rivera said Wednesday that the Redskins' attempt to mend fences with Williams following a spat with upper management last season is a "work in progress."

Williams held out last season, upset about the way Washington handled a medical situation. He reported to the team in November and spent the rest of the year on the non-football injury list. The Redskins made significant changes to their front office after the season, firing longtime president Bruce Allen, who had refused to honor the trade request Williams reportedly submitted in the summer.

Williams has spent his entire career with the Redskins, who drafted him fourth overall in 2010. He made seven consecutive Pro Bowls from 2012-18.
